Mostly they have put the colors on canvas so aesthetically and harmoniously.
How do you call or describe your art style?
Usually, I depict the elements on the canvas or paper as Semi-figurative Approach at the same time the Abstract is visible in the background which became my work style. The works are able to express their theme or contents evidently before the viewers. While I have studied all kinds of Art forms like the classic, folk, traditional, and modern style but artistic talents are guided according to my work style and practices. I categorize my work as Contemporary Art which I represent globally with a modern flare.
Why did you choose to become a Visual Artist?
I think and realize that this isn’t my choice actually. Only I have improved myself and inclined my artistic instincts or ability which I have gotten by birth from my childhood. Constantly, it was a long journey in this Fine Arts field. Accomplishing the formal education in fine Art and constant practice of Art allowed me to become a Visual artist. I am grateful to the Global Art scenario which recognized me as an outstanding Visual Artist.

Tell us about your artistic process for creating your body of works.
Ashok:
“Actually, the artistic process begins in the mind before you execute on the canvas, paper, or other surfaces. Even this visualization or thought process takes time before transferring the visual form. On the canvas, I just start creating the form according to my imagination with other technical support and it takes several days the complete it. Basically, this is the artistic process I implement to shape the complete work aesthetically”

Creative Process - Art Talk on 28th October 2016
By Dr. Divya Kumawat
Counseling Psychologist and Art Therapist
Director Kalpari Art and Mind, Bangalore, India
Dr. Divya Kumawat - How would you define art as?
Ashok Kumar – Every creation is an art. Art is a representation of natural skill in any form, or medium like painting, drawings, or sculpture. It can be an imitation of nature or the surrounding environment or things like still life, landscape, seascape, skyscape, portrait and life portrait, composition with their depicted beauty. The beauty of light and shades, and brush strokes create the texture. It has color harmony to create richness in the overall effect.
Dr. Divya Kumawat – How would you define creativity as?
Ashok Kumar – Creativity is an art that is the new production of the imagination or subconscious mind to the visual form. The core relationship of creativity is the natural observation of the basic things or study of nature in any form which is depicted or created in new forms through the imagination or maybe unknown mental images. We create something new and innovative with various forms and many colors beyond nature or revealing new from nature.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Is anyone who is 'creative' an artist or vice-versa?
Ashok Kumar – As I explain that creativity is an art, so the creative person is an artist because creativity consists of all forms and colors of art in the new way to express and explore things. All artwork is the creation but the creative instinct is a little different so every artist is not often creative.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Is there a difference at all?
Ashok Kumar – The artwork can be an imitation of nature or things beautifully and skillfully but creativity is an expression directly from the imagination in different and innovative ways.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - What do you create?
Ashok Kumar – I create painting figurative and abstract with different forms and colors on the canvas. Creative forms are from nature with human form through imagination. Its colors are relevant and the elements are aesthetically depicted on the canvas. When I draw animals or human being flying with their wings to express freedom or go beyond the limit. This kind of subject is not real, they don’t have wings actually. It might be somewhere in the myth or subconscious mind, therefore through the images I create to express my feelings in real life. There are many subjects in my painting with the effect of fantasy, dreams, and imagination expressed relevantly in the present.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Which art form are you into?
Ashok Kumar – I am in the visual art field, especially in paintings that represent the world's contemporary art.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - When did you first get into art and how?
Ashok Kumar – I can say that I first got into art in my childhood because of the artistic atmosphere of the family. Therefore, I am following art and creativity since childhood with my formal education in general and fine art. Apart from that it was the really first occasion to nourish and flourish my artistic instinct at the College of art where I accomplished my graduation. Then, I received a Scholarship for higher study in fine art at L’Ecole Superieure des Beaux-arts de Marseille, France. I have accomplished my study dedicatedly to the rich French cultural diversity. It was a great opportunity to study and face the art of the world closely. It has enhanced my experience highly in the field of visual art and recognized me in the world of contemporary art.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Did u get inspired or it came naturally to you?
Ashok Kumar – First it came naturally through the artistic family then I was inspired to nourish my art instinct from art education and the art field worldwide.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Tell us about your growth as an artist
Ashok Kumar – I am growing every day as an artist with a beautiful world. There is no such parameter to show the growth exactly but I am fortunate enough to receive recognition worldwide. I am obliged to my admirers who appreciate my creations and simplicity.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - About your feelings when you create?
Ashok Kumar – What a beautiful question by you. This is the moment when I execute the whole idea on the canvas from my mind. Feelings are just exciting because they slowly it’s taking the shape from the imagination to the visual form. I care all about lines, forms, contents, relevant colors, the overall effect and expression, and impressions. This is the moment of the process when I put the color shades and strokes aesthetically. The overall feeling during the creation is that it’s going to appear in a visual form according to visualize form in the mind. Yes, happy feelings.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Why is creativity and art important aspects of your life?
Ashok Kumar – It’s like a precious gift. When you know that your creativity and art are gifted by the nature then you love it more. Second, I have chosen creativity and art as my profession to serve this world and beautify the world with colors and beautiful novel thoughts then this obviously becomes an important aspect of my life.
Dr. Divya Kumawat - Would you want people to be into art, if yes why?
Ashok Kumar –Art and creativity make us more positive, imaginative, energetic, and active. It has the power to make this world more beautiful, therefore of course I wish more and more people to be into art and the creative world.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
WINTER EDITION 2022 BY ARTUP MI - MILAN ITALY
AUM: What inspired you to be an artist? When did you begin expressing yourself through creative avenues?
Answer: The atmosphere of the family was so artistic. I have learned with my father how to give the visual impact (basically in clay, at that time) from my imagination. This process was so amazing and interesting indeed to realize my own dreams since my childhood. Exclusively, I have been inspired by the nature and diversity of the world's culture. This is the reason I depict many artistic forms from the different cultures of the world. Relatively, your experience of struggle inspires you the most in life. It was the basic factors and artistic instinct which inspire me to pursue my career as an artist. I can say that since my childhood expressing myself through creative avenues.
AUM: Tell us about your artistic background: Are you self-taught or educated? Where did you receive your art education? Have you already graduated or you are studying?
Answer: The atmosphere of the family was so artistic and full of a creative environment. I begin to absorb the creations and their process in the milieu of my family. My father was a good teacher and a guide. Apart from my childhood experience, I am a well-educated and well-qualified artist in this art field. I have done my graduation in fine art (Painting) from the College of Arts, Patna University, Patna (Bihar-India). After graduation, I have done my research and higher study in fine art from L’Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, France (Under the French Govt. Scholarship)
AUM: What ideas are you currently exploring in your work? What themes fill you with performance anxiety?
Answer: Ideas of unity – After experiencing the different cultures of the world (gradually by traveling and participating widely), I always try to explore something new from the diversity of the world culture through the various elements which support me for the meaning of my themes, a unity from the diversity. I elaborate and explore more with the same theme. I try to align all the contents with nature which really drag me to the depth of the painting where I really realize the challenges.
AUM: Which mediums do you use in your work? Why do they attract you?
Answer: Basically, I use oil and acrylic colors for my painting. I use watercolor and charcoal for the drawings. I am fascinated with the stability, versatility, and depth of the oil color which provides the tremendous possibility to achieve the desired result of the painting. Although acrylic colors are more convenient to get instant results, their adhesive qualities and low toxicity are supportive to complete the painting in a short period of time. It is more convenient for art galleries and art collectors, so I also prefer to do my paintings in acrylic color mostly. Acrylic colors dry quickly, which allows me to do my work in multiple layers without muddying the colors which attract me a lot. My most of paintings are in acrylic color on canvas.
AUM: What’s next for you? Feel free to share any of your future plans such as exhibitions, travels, residencies, collaborations, or any other interesting information relating to your art career.
Answer: Due to the pandemic situation all cultural activities are affected and postponed either in local galleries or in abroad. Although, there are many groups shown in several countries. There are also art festivals and art camps in which I can participate in the future. I am hopeful for future art activities which will fulfill my expectations and dreams.
AUM: Are you inspired by the works of your peers or anyone else in particular?
Answer: In fact, I am inspired by my own life span experience. My work is inspired by my study and exploring the things which I indulge it during several art activities. Evidently, you may find the influence of western style on my creations. It might be the impact of the research studies. I have encountered almost all master’s work. There are many legends like Picasso, Dali, Kandinsky, Miro, and Mark Rothko, and particularly work from impressionism is my favorite.
AUM: Tell us something that you like doing apart from making art. What funny things about yourself can you share with us?
Answer: Well, I think apart from my artwork, often I do reading, writing, traveling, and social networking. Actually, if I focused on apart from my painting then it would be photography and clay modeling of my interest. I love to do all the small work that needs to do at a particular time. Overall only art is everything where I am fully concentrated.
